A very late piece by Elgar and a very early piece by Britten were complemented by their diary entries and letters. Extracts were eloquently read by Matthew Bannister and Yvette Byrne. The crises these revealed in each case, and the unusual circumstances of composition, served to enrich the musical performance.
A review of the musical performance is available on request from janet@aidin.co.uk. The Church, which has excellent acoustics, served as an ideal concert hall and the concert was sold out.
